Suzie Iversen, 60, passed away on September 8, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center after a brief illness of lung cancer.
Suzie was born on April 7, 1950 to Milton and June Lepowsky in Wayzata, MN. The oldest of seven kids, she set the pace for her siblings. She graduated from Wayzata High School in 1968. She worked all through high school and her work, no matter what is was, was very important to her. In 1971, her son Terry Thomas was born. They enjoyed going to Sauk Center to be with her mother, June Bailey and stepfather. In 1987, she was honored to be united in marriage to Robert Iversen where they resided in Des Moines. She worked in the restaurant business before returning to her passion of baking. She worked for Hy-Vee Food Stores as a baker for many years before retiring in 2005 due to health reasons. Suzie remained involved with the Parks Community Thanksgiving Dinner until 2009.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Rebecca Moore; grandchildren, Katymae, Tylor, Bailey, and Elijah all of Des Moines; stepchildren, Kelsey Iversen of Orange City, Cade (Anne) of Vail; step grandchildren, Deacon, Crayton, Jordan, and Adellyn; sisters, Cherryl (Karsten) of Buffalo, MN, Robin of Monticello, MN, Juedi of St. Paul, MN, and Marni; brother, John (Laura) of Fremont, MN; mother and father-in-law, Howard and Charlene Iversen of Vail and life long friend Charles Paterno of Des Moines.
Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 25 at Merle Hay Funeral Home (4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines). Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Lifeline of Iowa.
